  • Teacher Appreciation

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019 the teachers and staff were treated to a special lunch coordinated by the PTO Classroom Liaisons and Families. The Teachers lunch was planned to let them know how much we appreciate them: We FEEL so LUCKY to have you. Parents donated food/beverages items, supplies, and time. What many families don’t know is that our teachers do not have lunch together on a regular basis and some don’t even have their lunch covered. By having parent volunteers come in between 12pm-1pm meant all our teachers were able to have an hour dedicated to them while their classrooms were covered. Another thank you to the PTO for funding items from Jerome’s Catering. This was a nice complement to the food items donated by families. A special thank you to all the WA Families whom contributed to make this day super special! We look forward to many more days like this special day!

  • Presenting to Board of Education

The Windham Academy recently presented to the New Hampshire Board of Education on the success of their first several months of operation. The school's director, Mindy Labo, went to Concord accompanied by two of Mrs. Adaschik's 3rd grade class, Joe and Josiah. Mrs. Labo reported that the school continues to exceed all expectations, with approximately 100 students and families currently enrolled. She credits her stellar team of educators and staff with the school’s success - citing area parents, and their repeated ravings about the new school. With another month of open enrollment still to go, an additional 70 area families have already applied for fall 2019 enrollment, making another lottery guaranteed. Young Joe and Josiah stepped up and captivated the assembly with their professional demeanor and heartfelt update on their experiences at the new school. The Education Commissioner and Board Members were so impressed by the boys - they made it a point to personally thank them for their participation. The Windham Academy is a tuition free public school based in the heart of Windham, near to exit 3. Currently serving Kindergarten through grade 3, it will expand a grade each year. Fall 2019 open enrollment is underway, with the addition of grade 4. Classrooms are filling quickly, with several openings still available for grades 2, 3 and 4. Construction of the new classrooms at 1 Industrial Drive is well underway, and the school’s new PTO is already impacting change throughout the community. For more information on the new school, please visit www.windhamacademy.org, or call Kim Golden at 603-236-7900 to schedule an onsite visit.

  • Food Drive

During the colder months it’s important to remember those less fortunate, and to give what we can to make their lives a little easier. We are honored to organize a collection and distribution of food to those in need and urge everyone to donate whatever amount they can. Even a small donation means a lot to a family with less. Collections will be delivered to a local Food Pantry in November. We hope you’ll join us in helping out our community who could really use some extra support during this season. Children Who Give: Experience reflection, which brings lifelong benefits by building compassion, leadership and critical thinking. In knowing that a kid can make a difference, their work is valued by others, and they have something to contribute. Learning about their community’s needs and specific topics (e.g. environment, hunger) Compassion for others by gaining empathy for those less fortunate and through sharing and the realization they have something to share. They learn to think beyond their own needs and learning generosity. Children who volunteer when they’re young will continue to volunteer as adults. Young volunteers learn about their community and how they can have an impact on it: They can make a difference! Source: ParentMap.com

Before Thanksgiving Break the WA PTO planned a Thankful Luncheon for the wonderful Teachers and Staff at Windham Academy to show appreciation for all their hard work and dedication.
